The VFW Post # 253 of Salem, Salem City, and the Salem County Bureau of Veterans' Affairs proudly sponsor the Salem County Hometown Heroes banner program.

The Hometown Heroes Banner program is a tribute to soldiers from Salem County who served or are serving our country in a branch of the military. Each banner honors a specific Salem County soldier including their picture, branch of service, era of service, and hometown in Salem County. all banners will be displayed annually from Memorial Day to Veteran's Day on utility poles on Broadway and Market Street in the county seat of Salem, NJ. 

Applicants will be reviewed and accepted on a first come basis. Applications can be sent at any time; however, the printing deadline for this year has now passed. To rehang an existing banner, contact Bev Bradbury.

  • Honoring Salem County service people (former and current) in all branches of the U.S. military
  • Banners available annually
  • Hanging scheduled for Memorial Day weekend 
  • Displayed on Broadway and Market Street in Salem from Memorial Day to Veteran's Day
